a new day, a new door

Roaming the streets of Charleston makes me happier than I ever thought possible.  I love the history of this town.  The character.  The laid back, happy lifestyle.  I could walk around the historic district for days.  All the colorful, sweet architecture reminds me of what I want my life to be.

I took a carriage tour with Isaac (Red) last year and the tour guide talked a bit about the side porches.  He said these beautiful porches with solid front doors at the front are a statement of wealth as well as hospitality.  When the doors are left open, it’s a sign that the neighbors are welcome to visit, have a glass of sweet tea on the porch and watch the carriages go by.  When the door is shut, the owners would like privacy and guests should return at another time.  I now, of course, want a side porch with a big beautiful door more than anything.  That lifestyle sounds like heaven!

Until I strike it rich and have my dream of owning a southern home in the historic district, I’ll look for other doors of opportunity.  Just to work and live in this amazing place is more than I could have asked for.

I’d love to hear from you!  What are your favorite things about this gorgeous city we call home?RachelRedPhotography-Charleston
