Charleston, my new home

The last month has been a blur.  I remember packing my car to the brim in -20 degree weather.  Driving until 3am.  Sleeping a few hours.  Then driving again until 1am.  I was sick, exhausted, and grumpy (sorry, Red).  The next week was filled with mundane things like telling movers where to put things, unpacking, and trying not to get lost every time I hopped in the car.  I remember Red whispering “we made it” in my ear a few times, but it honestly took days for everything to sink in.  I am here.  I am in paradise.  The dream of living in the south once again was finally a reality!  Oh wow, I’m here!!

These first few weeks I’ve unpacked (mostly), found a church, joined a social group for female entrepreneurs, met with event coordinators and designers, booked weddings, and even made some friends.  I’ve been welcomed so warmly by the wedding industry here, which is a definite plus.  I’m on cloud 9 and as the temperatures continue to rise, so do my spirits.  I am so thankful to be here.  I never, ever want to leave.

Are you in Charleston?  If so, please say hello in the comments!  I’d love to know where to visit, what to avoid, and any other tips you may have on making the most of my first season here.  I will take the time to personally respond to each of you if you do!

I took a walk around the historic district and saw this beautiful gate and had to capture it for you.  Cheers…to many open doors in this enchanting new place I call home.
